1962 Honda CR110 -2-


Distress regarding the parts

After 1999 Time Tunnel, Crankshaft of this CR110 was damaged. Also another parts was worn down. He made some parts for my CR110.


In the 2000 year, Mr. Naito made and arranged the parts for my CR110


Problems in the cylinderhead
Overhauled cylinderhead. We found some problems in it. Tapets and tapet guides are worn down. We need new Tapet and guide. But there is not for sale.

LEFT: Tapet was worn very much. All the projection was lost. MIDDLE: One tapet's projection was remained, but not enough. RIGHT: New tapet, but this tapet is not for latest CR110.

Structure of the tapet
We think that it is necessary to know the structure of a tapet. Mr. Naito cut one of them. The structure was more complicated than we thought.

The tapet is hollow. And constructed by some pieces. The person who designed it want make light and durable. The face that knocked by cam made by hard metal.

First, Mr. Naito have a trial of makes it solid metal. He makes 2 pieces of parts, and weld them. But when he hardening it, welded point had dissolved. Next, he weld the parts by the laser beam. He succeeded in this time. We got very durable tapets.

He made the tapets over size diameter. Also he expand the tapet guide bore. Then, tapet fitted with the tapet guide exactly.


Most serious damage


Next Problem is regarding the crankshaft. To begin with, once the crankshaft had broken before I purchased the CR110. And crankshaft was repaired skillfully. But now, the crankshaft was damaged again.

Although Mr. Naito can repair it, we decide to install new parts for it. Because he have new it. And actual results instance of repair is very small number.
